French Hunting Show cancelled
The annual "Salon de la Chasse", which normally takes place during March or April in Mantes La Jolie, has been cancelled this year. The organizers were left with little choice since the uncertainty concerning government ordained restrictions on large gatherings and travel prohibits both exhibitors and the public from making firm plans.

Next show is March 2021.

I'm not surprised. The NRA convention is coming up in Nashville in around a month. I'm guessing it too will be cancelled.

That’s a shame, but understandable.

I have tickets, plus hotel and flight reservations, for the NRA convention in April.

But I also have cancellation “for any reason” insurance, in case it’s canceled or I or my wife come down with a coronavirus infection.

But hunting shows are only the tip of the iceberg.

This damned virus is playing hell with everything everywhere, including entire national economies.

Well, today the NRA cancelled its annual convention. Glad I bought the trip insurance.

Latest estimates by world class infectious disease specialists and epidemiologists of the worst case scenario are that this disease will last many months.

Even if it dips in the summer, it will come back strong in the autumn. We are way past containment.

There will be an approximately 50 to 70% infection rate in the USA alone, not to mention less medically sophisticated places like Africa.

That means that a minimum of 160 million Americans will be infected. At a 1% mortality rate, that means that 1.6 million Americans will die. Mostly the elderly and infirm, or immunocompromised.

We need a vaccine, and fast.

Stay strong and healthy.
