APHA "Robin Hurt" Award For best plains game trophy of 2004
Each Year the African Professional Hunters Association gives out 3 awards to it's members. One for the best dangerous game trophy. One for the best plains game trophy , and a conservation award. I'm happy to say that Nassos Roussos, the founder and owner of ERVS received the plains game award for that big lesser kudu that I posted back last spring.
It was 36" green 35 7/8 dried and scored 85 to be the new SCI # 1.

I wander what these awards really mean? I think last years' DG award was for a big buffalo with a very "green" boss! Personally I didn't think that buffalo was much of a trophy at all....

Not taking away from the lesser kudu of this year which is truly exceptional....

Bwanamih,

If I remember right, it was a hermaprodite (sp?) with a very unusual droop shape and an open boss. The thing is supposed to be meaner than a normal buff. Kinda like a "gatapuss". Roll Eyes We had the biggest Nile Buffalo taken in Ethiopia since 1977 entered in that competition and got third place?
The lesser kudu beat out a couple of big southern greater kudu and, I believe, a sable.

Hi Rich,
Firstly, my congratulations. I was wondering if there is a way in which to view photographs of the annual winners, runners up, etc. ....?

Nickudu,

No web site yet. There are usually pictures of the winners in Hatari Times and this year, Sports Afield covered the award dinner so I suspect it will be in an upcoming issue.

P.S. I'm off to the Grand Slam/Ovis convention in Biloxi for the next 6 days.

Rich,
I know the one you mean (Ox of Okavango??) but it wasn't that one. It was a soft bossed mid-40" bull.
