retreever12 weeks till safari in The Selous
Well friends, I am down to 12 weeks and serious work has begun...For strength I am cutting up 8 cords of wood and splitting... I am walking with my wife in the woods on uneven ground... strengthen ankles, knees, and labs love it...
I am dressed to kill carrying the 450#2 double and ammo belt with 10 rounds...While carrying the rifle I am doing arm raises and picking up and aiming and alternating arms..Doing this for 2 miles a day for a week...
The excitement of this hunt is really building...
Shooting every weekend now...458 Lott, 450#2, and 375...From sticks offhand and some real up close shooting...
Have all shots needed and meds ordered... I also ordered and received gatorade mix qt. packages

Selous 2006 21 days
I will not be far behind you. We leave for the Selous in sixteen weeks. Don't get me wrong, the trips themselves are great, but planning for the trips is almost half the fun. Picking a rifle(s), practicing at the range, selecting an outfitter, choosing the type of hunt, arranging the travel, checking references, getting in shape, doing research, it all makes the time go by quicker and is a lot of fun to me. Particularly if you are traveling with a buddy and can go through the process together. Good luck on your trip.

retreeverWoodmnctry,
In 2005 they had a raffle on AR May 15 2005, for a 16 day buff hunt with Pierre van Tonder Safaris in R2 and R4 concessions...I am the lucky guy who won the hunt...It included all expense paid for the winner and observer...I won 2 buf, zebra, impala, wart hog, Nyasa wildebeest, waterbuck, and hartebeest AKA kongoni....I upgraded to 21 days and added sable, leopard, lion, ele, hippo, and croc... Now that is a big wish list, but more importantly this has been my life long dream to hunt the Selous....
I am going to enjoy every minute of it...Sights, sounds, smells, and camp life and being in Africa again...I will be shooting a 450#2 double and a 375 H&H...
I will keep all informed of my plans as I promised before and during the safari, my daughter will post what is going on in camp and with the safari... Mike

We are hunting with Usangu. We will be hunting September 1 through September 11. Block is still open. Maybe LU1 although we may be in another block. Will know in about a month.
Mike
I hope you have a great time!!!!

YIKES!! that list should fillup your available wall space -- I always figure its not the price of the hunt that is costly -- it's just the addition to the house to hang everything that will get you in the end - oh well what a problem -eh?

<Hunter Formerly Known As Texas Hunter>Currently, the plan is LU1 though that might change. I plan to ship some gifts to camp and Usangu has instructed me to mark the boxes for delivery to LU1.
Anybody have any experience/suggestions on the best mount for a croc? Flat? Flat with head? Life-size sitting in a chair playing poker with a hyena and a warthog?
