Dr BSilverBack
I just read a article that in Congo Republic, The Cameroon, The Central African Republic, Gabon, and Zaire, Silverbacksand other primates are hunted for their meat. Does anyone know of a Safri Co that offers hunts. I think it would make a intresting mount.

What caliber would you use? Would you tink a 9.3X62 would be adequate.

MARK H. YOUNGYou know in my lifetime they were hunted for sport. I remember a Ruger ad when the first 44 Mag carbines came out that showed the proud hunter with the giant gorilla he had killed.

MARK H. YOUNGMike,
60's sounds right as I'm 57 and the ad I mentioned is pretty foggy in my mind. Of course we ARE talking the 60's Oh! Never mind.

Use Enough GunVery interesting. What an outcry that ad would make in today's world. My how times have changed.

bulldog563If anyone is interested there is a great book by Merfield called "Gorilla Hunter."

WinkSince all large primates are on endangered species lists hunting is of course illegal. Poachers, whatever the country, aren't ususally interested in wildlife preservation nor in the respect of the law. Even if you were to buy a skin or carcass I don't know of a single country that would allow you to import it.
