crlOk, So I am watching Saeeds DVD last night. Damn he likes to kill Buff.
I lost count around 7 or 8. I thought that Tanzania had a two buff limit. Can someone explain to me how one guy can shoot so damn many buff on a 21 day trip?
thanks

GeorgeSYou are assuming that he bought a single 21-day hunt, and not several 7-day buff hunts (each of which entitles you to two buff).

crlNot assuming a damn thing. Didn't know a person could do that. I guess I am to used to the states and only being allowed to buy one license or hunt at a time per state.

Every country have thier own rules.
In Zimbabwe one can buy one hunting license, and hunt as many animals as his PH would allow him, provided these animals are available on that concessions quota.
Here is an example.
In Chete, Zimbabwe, the government allocates a certain number of each species that can be hunted during the year. Many hunters come to hunt buffalo, but, because of the relatively hard terrain, and their lack of good health - not able to walk long distances tracking buffalo. Many of them go home without shooting any buffalo.
As we go towards the end of the season, the PH lets us shoot all the buffalo he has left on his quota.
So we end up shooting about 12 on a 21 day hunt.
In Tanzania they do have quotas for the concessions, and it is up to the concession owners to sell these animals as they see fit. Provided, of course, certain conditions are met.
In this case, 2 buffalos are allowed on each 7-day license, and 3 buffalo are allowed on a 21 day licence.
There are some animals, like elephant, lion and croc, which I think are only allowed on a 21-day license.
There is no rule to stop any individual buying several license.
The government requires that a minimum of 40% of the allocated animals be paid for, or teh concession holders run the risk of loosing it.
I think the main think to bear in mind is that each country has its own rules, to suit its own conditions.

PWN375Saeed is a buff terminator with that rifle. I wish I had kept track of how many he has killed on film since I joined AR. I bet it is over 100. He kills them close, far and at all distances in between. He takes frontal, side, going away, standing, walking and running shots and they always come out the same. Dead right there or after a fairly short run. No wonder the trackers and scouts love the guy. He must be responsible for a few tons of finished biltong in 3 African countries. Not to mention how happy he makes PHs and safari companies.

N E 450 No2Saeed is correct.
Another example is my hunt in Zimbabwe this March. If all goes well I will shoot several elephants. I have "on quota" 2 trophy bull elephants. 4 crop raiding bull elephants, 6 cow elephants.
For Saeed it is buffalo.
For me it is elephants.
We all have our Holy Grail.

Frank MartinezHi reddy375. We are currently circulating 4 sets of the dvd and somewhere out there is a vhs.
If you will go to the lists posted on the Africa Hunting forum you will find them as 2005 dvd North, South, East or West.
Select your region and reply at the bottom that you would like to be added to the list. Send your mailing information to the person above you that is also being added to the list. Be careful as there are many different people adding info. I would also suggest you add the thread to "YOUR Favorites" . It is located in the GO draw-down at the top of each thread. That makes it easy to find the thread when it leaves the page one area.
If you have any problems feel free to send me a pm.
