LIONS are wreaking havoc in Chikwarakwara, Beitbridge, where they have killed 10 cattle in the past week.
Villagers are now living in constant fear of being attacked by the cats.
Councillor for Ward 1 Mr Enock Ndou said residents in areas such as Chikwarakwara, Chasvingo and Chitulipasi on a daily basis faced a double threat from lions and elephants.
Children in those areas were now staying away from school in fear of attack from the lions.
"Our children are now finding it hard and very dangerous to walk to school because of the danger posed by the lions.
"Most of the time, we live in fear of attack from wild animals like elephants and lions which are making our lives difficult," said a villager, Mr Thabang Ndou. — HR.

ShangaanHas anyone explained that if they stop stealing the game fences to make snares that the animals wouldn't be around to hastle them? Or could it be exagerated so Nat. Parks can come and shoot an elephant for free meat?
Shangaan: Spot on. When I was in Zim in 05, we were driving on the main road southeast on our way to Malangani where the PH I hunt with, John Sharp has his concession. There were quite a few remnants of what must have been horrible wrecks by the side of the road. He went on to explain to us that a few happened as a result of some who chose to drive their donkey-propelled at night without lights. A lot of htem however, were the result of animals crossing the road at night. As a result, the South African government financed (this road serves as the main commerce artery beween RSA and Bulawayo) the construction of a wire fence to separate the highway and limit the crossings.
Well guess what, it didn't take long for those pinheads to start stealing the wire to and sell it to make snares. As to the PAC elephants and free meat, if it was up to them, they'd all be PAC elephants! jorge
