Where do I send my money for the “ 21 day FULL BAG safari”?

Unfortunately, the reality is that is that unless that happened in the next few days and the airlines also announced at the same time that they were resuming flights, it is going to be too late for many outfitters to change course. Getting organized for the convention, securing hotel and airline reservations, etc. is not a last minute exercise for many outfitters, particularly over the Christmas and New Years holidays. And that begs the question of whether the convention even happens, will Dallas impose restrictions like masking, will the restrictions cause attendees to stay home, how well is the convention going to be attended in the first place with all the issues swirling around, etc. Bottom line, the course is probably already set in stone for some outfitters and for others it will be shortly unless there was a dramatic change in circumstances in next few days.

I understand the powers that be are meeting soon to discuss COVID.

You are correct if you are speaking of local government, Dallas City Council has a special “Covid Update” meeting scheduled for 12/16. Dallas County Commissioners Court meets on 12/7, the first agenda presentation is by Dallas County Health and Human Services who will be giving a county specific Covid 19 update. I believe both are open meetings should anyone want to attend. I suspect some info regarding Covid and the City and County of Dallas will come from one or both of those meetings, hopefully it will be good info for a change.

SaeedVery strange that some European countries are making it easier now a week after they imposed harsher rules.
Switzerland brought in quarantine earlier, they removed that yesterday.
One needs a test before arriving, and take another test 4 days later.
Only quarantine non vaccinated.
This latest version of the Chink Virus seems to infect more people, but not very dangerous.
Who do we believe?

Just an idea trying to think out of the box in these bizarre times. As an accommodation to those outfitters that are unable to attend given travel bans and airline cancellations and who have therefore elected to roll over their booth deposits to next year, would DSC allow those outfitters to post on the outfitters websites and social media pages a short list of former clients (2-3) that would be present at the show to answer questions? DSC could even have a list on their website of outfitters not attending and client contact details to help facilitate this process in this truly unique situation.
The post would include the mobile numbers of the clients so individuals with questions could contact them at the show and meet them for a few minutes face-to-face to answer questions. This would not be like having a booth and having former clients man the booth to facilitate and schedule bookings, take deposits, arrange Zoom calls (which frankly are impractical in this situation in any event), etc. Simply a cheap means of connecting former clients with potential clients at the show to answer questions face to face if desired.
I can understand that DSC would not want this to become some backdoor means for outfitters to be at the show and book hunts without buying a booth, but it could be limited to this year only and only available to outfitters from countries that are subject to travel limitations that make attendance virtually impossible. DSC could even prohibit using the process to have the former clients book specific dates or take deposits for the outfitter. Just make it a way to share information and get contact details so that the outfitter could subsequently contact the potential client. Just seems like in a year when it looks like some of these outfitters are facing a lemon of convention, perhaps a way to make a little lemonade out of the situation.
I know that several of the current DSC leaders are members on AR . . . perhaps one of them will weigh in on the foregoing. Not sure why DSC would have a problem with this but would be nice to hear that from them. I would have to think they are keeping up with this thread.

Mike,
Sounds like a good idea to begin with.
But you will be opening a door for future problems.

MJinesNot sure I see the potential for future abuse if it is limited to this year’s convention and limited to only outfitters from the countries affected by the current travel bans and airline cancellations. Exceptional times warrant some accommodation it seems to me. My $0.02.

Buzz CharltonMike suggestion certainly would help the likes of us. The reasons are
1/ We are unable to travel
2/ Slow Internet speeds at the show and here in Zim combined with astronomical prices and time zones
3/Realistically, as kind and generous as clients are they do not want to sit at a single booth from start to finish of the shows!
I do understand that Dallas has to their credit come down very hard on " briefcase " salesman and that this may be seen as a form of this and open to future abuse. However, all said and done Mike suggestion certainly would be an option we would engage in if it were aloud.

If DSC do not stop this utterly unacceptable prices, then as you said, it will open the door to others doing the same.
Might end up like SCI with their Mafia Unions!

. . . guess DSC is not planning on weighing in.

Never a more accurate statement made...thus why its time for everyone in this biz to look for alternative methods of marketing, etc.
