Whats a good caliber , other than .22 LR that can be reloaded in which you don't bust up or
just blow to pieces a small African Animal.
This helps when some wants to do a full mount.

RupertBearI used my .35 Whelen with rn solids loaded to about 2000 fps and it worked great. A hole in, a hole out, and the taxidermist didn't need to call on any magical spells to make a fine whole body mount.
All skill is in vain when a demon pisses on your gunpowder.

MARK H. YOUNGBorrowing the PH's 22 Hornet or 223 with solids seems to be the best way to handle the little guys. Even a 10-20 pound animal though has to be hit right particular with a solid. It also has not been my experience that impala down through dik-dik get blown apart by 375 solids.

bwanajcjthe 22 hornet is a great choice, low recoil, low noise and little pelt or meat damage. jj

goosejoe300gr 375 = one shot, one hole on a jackal and duiker. Bullet was a 300gr North Fork soft point. No problems, could have lifesize mounted either. Joe

ceweI shot my duiker with a full load .375 and a 300gr A frame. Aimed behind the shoulder and the animal wasn´t badly messed up. We were hunting kudu but the little guy was a good choice. The thing is you never have the right gun with you when "the wrong" animal stumbles in your way.
I also shot a vervet monkey with a .270 gr Rhino...the bullet passed through some wood before hitting the monkey.
Not a pretty sight
