Dutch44CITES permit questions.
Don't want to appear ignorant but do I need a separate form for both leopard and elephant for Tanzania? Will $100 cover both the leopard and elephant permit? The form has a place to check both animals but I don't want to screw this up. I should have filed earlier but have only 72 days before I leave.

Not in Tanzania. They want to see it before the license is issued.

Any way to insure it's issued before 70 days? They say usually 60 but maybe longer. What has been your experience?

Michael RobinsonDutch, mine's been pending for four months. There have been internal communications snafu's on these at USF&WS recently.
I would file your application ASAP and send it priority or express mail. I would also note your departure date in your cover letter and beg and grovel a bit for expedited delivery. It may work.
In any case, I understand from Don Causey's Hunting Report that there is hope even if our permits don't come in time.
Apparently, because of the delays at USF&WS this year, the Tanzanian authorities have so far not insisted that hunters possess their CITES import permits before getting their Tanzanian licenses.

They've never been particularly worried about that but the export permit won't be issued until they see the import permit.

BigBI sent in for my CITES permit for leopard after I returned from Zim. I think they went out the second week of July and I got them back today.
So for me my turn time was about four weeks.

Michael RobinsonDutch, you must have brought me good luck or good karma or something as my CITES import permit arrived in today's mail.
Best of luck getting yours.
