CaracalThuraya in southern Africa
Hello Guys,
I am looking at a new sat phone. I like the pricing from Thuraya and would like to get one. It covers most of the areas that I need it for (Westafrica, Asia).
It seems to have very limited availabilty in southern africa which is fine because cell is avialble in most areas anyway.
However, Can anyone share his experience with turaya in southern africa?
Any recommendations?
Cheers,
Dennis

lavacaThis is bad. My firm wants me to take a sat phone when I go to Tanzania. So far I've snowed them by telling them we can't get internet, which is true. But a sat phone works, I just haven't told them that.
I only want one to call in for an evac if I'm about to die and the PH has one for that.
I hunt where they can't contact me so that I get a vacation. If clients and my associates could call me on a sat phone, it wouldn't be much of a vacation.
Incredibly, my associates find they can handle the worst catastrophe in my absence. It's good experience for them and solace for me. Builds character.

SaeedThuraya shows that they do not have coverage in South Africa.

CaracalYes that is correct. However the coverage for cell is pretty good in south africa, so it doesn't matter.
