Castle beer
I'm in need of two six packs of Castle beer. Have a pal from RSA that I need to really impress. Can't seem to find it any more here in the USA (The African Hut can no longer get it nor the Beer Geek).

I will gladly reimbuse anybody that can return with some (even a couple bottles!). I'll name my next born son after you, weekends with my wife (all you want...please! rotflmo ). I got all manner of brass to make it worth your while if still not interested.

If you are going to Namibia I'll also consider all of the above for some Tafel as well.

Matt:

Looks like it is not imported into the USA anymore. I have had my store make inquiries with all the big Chicago stores and distributors. No luck. You would think that since the parent company is SAB/Miller it would be in the supply chain but it is not. I have been trying for close to 2 years.

The Binneys chain in Chicagoland carries Windhoek Lager and a few others, Tusker,IIRC is one.

Close as I can come to helping you.

Good Luck and letus know if you happen to find a source in the States.

Matt,

We have ordered Castle beer from beergeek.biz. On the left side of the homepage under More World Beer it is three rows from the bottom right side. I'm sure RCG knows more about it but heck its worth a try.It was our favorite while in Africa. Kind of takes you back to those great days. They are a good company to deal with.
Good luck!

Castle Beer is not what is was twenty years ago. Go the Windhoek.

Matt,

If the message to Sue and Jim that I've just left by telephone call to Afton Guest Lodge works out you may personally enjoy your wife's company this weekend and should a newborn son eventually result, you may please call him Andrew! Big Grin

In good hunting.

Order him Castel instead, its close enough in spelling that he probably will not notice and like me he may well like it better.

Not beer, but can we get Schwepps Bitter Lemon in the US? I love that stuff and can't find it here.

While it's drinkable (of course most beers are that) my opinion of Castle is that people who want to drink it in the US are drinking it for the memories, not the taste, which is, at best, ordinary.

Give him Red Stripe. It tastes the same and is easy to buy at most package stores.

I agree, Tafel is better than Windhoek.

Absolutely, Tafel is the best of the commonly available beers in Namibia and a fair bit better than Castle.

RVL III:

That is not the link for Spec's. I checked and as far as I can tell they don't have Castle.....here is the correct link......www.specsonline.com

Well, you've got to have something to keep all those South Africans happy in Henties Bay and Swakopmund during the summer.........

No, Windhoek Lager is the only one exported to the United States. Pisser huh?

"Kudu" and "Zambezia" may well taste good but they are made in Oklahoma City.

BevMo has some African beers. They use to carry Castle but not anymore.

Try an ice cold Tusker!

They have Windhoek too.

Too bad they're not in Texas, good selection and they have Singha, which is nearly impossible to obtain in Texas.
