RSA Gun Importation Form
Has anyone got a copy of the form needed to import a rifle into South Africa? I'm leaving in 10 days, and just found out about this form. Please e-mail it to me at:

Thanks

Mike,

I just got back and hadn't had a problem with getting guns into the RSA. The boys at Gray's Security pretty much walk you through it at your point of entry into RSA whether it be Capetown or Jo'burg.

However, I would pay extra attention to your U.S. Customs form 4457(Certificate of Registration of Personal Effect Taken Abroad) for your rifles taken abroad. If you do not have it UPON RETURN to the U.S. then U.S. Customs may impound your firearms.

Good luck, have a great hunt.

Don, thanks for your reply. Your comments have put me at ease. How was your recent trip?

Just got back from RSA last Tues.
Got to Jo'burg with all the forms filled out...the guy at the SAP's station said that is not the one they use now. He filled out the import permit and we were on our way.
Don't worry about that form. Just show up and go to the police room and they will fill out what they want you to have...don't lose that one as they want it back on your way out!
Have fun...we did.

I was more at ease this time, I pretty much had jumped through all the hoops on previous trips, so it was smooth sailing and a trip of lifetime.

Of course, I've said that every time and it just keeps getting better. I visited the RSA, Namibia and Botswana this last time over and it was overwhelming.

A good hunt, good animals. Spectacular, as usual!
