Cabelas for Big Bore Ammo
Cabelas for Big Bore Ammo
FYI,
Seems that Cabelas has expanded their selection of safari grade ammunition. They are now selling Remington Safari Grade, Federal Premium Safari grade and have expanded to the full line of Norma ammunition (including 416 Rigby) and A-Square ammo. I have heard mixed reviews on the A-Square so have not tried any. I can say that Norma ammo is excellent. My 416 Rigby shoots both the solids and softs very well. The Norma ammo is loaded with Swift A Frames for softs and Barnes Monometal Solids. Good stuff.

You can borrow money but you can not borrow time. Go hunting with your family.

It's why some of us reload. It's also a fun pastime.

The prices in Cabelas are the same if not lower than what is available in stores in Sacramento. We pay 8% sales tax so shipping is covered by buying just a few items at once. Also stores in Sacramento rarely carry anything larger than .375 hh.

WhitworthI have found the prices for big-bore ammo to be lower than what I normally paid in California as well. As Gunny pointed out, the sales tax is a killer.

butchlochum - factory ammo - does that stuff go off??

500grainsWho do I trust with my life:
1. An assembly line worker who gets paid the same regardless of whether the ammo goes BANG or not.
2. Me, at the loading bench carefully prepping the cases, hand weighing charges for a load that I have proven safe and accurate at the range with my rifle, and then seating the bullet to an OAL length that feeds well in my rifle.
In 30 years of significant shooting experience
I cannot recall a single instance of factory produced ammo failing. It seems logical that if this were a problem we would hear reports of it at least on a yearly basis on the AR forums.
A problem in the hypothetical I imagine. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Widowmaker416Midway is a very good source of ammo! My local sporting goods store gives me a hell of a good price on ammo, .270's I buy by the case, .416 6 or 8 boxes at a time
I've used "Factory" ammo ever since I started hunting!(almost 40 years!) I've never had a "bad" round!
Now on the other hand, a friend of mine "reloaded" some .270's for me, two miss fired out of the first 100 rounds!
Just goes to show you, nobodys or nothing is perfect!!!!!

The only reason I bought a 416 is because I have access to reloading. I have bought solids for my 375 when federal loaded woodleighs. Never had a failure with a factory round. If I were just starting out I would buy factorys until I found what bullet I liked then I would reload it to my rifle specs.
