Safari Specialty ImportersFriday from the Field: DSC Updates from CITES Convention 2022
Last week saw the conclusion of the 2022 CITES Convention in Panama. Dallas Safari Club was present and advocating for continued proven methods of conservation through sustainable hunting measures. DSC provide the following major updates:
1) Elephants CITES listing remains as a CITES II, only requiring a CITES Export permit from the country of origin
2) Hippos remain as CITES II animals
3) A motion to suspend Leopard quotas was defeated, allowing the continued hunting of leopards as specified by each country's quota
DSC continues to remain one of the best advocates for hunters and the communities that exist around wildlife. To see what else DSC is doing, visit their website or attend the annual convention in January. Safari Specialty Importers will be present and happy to chat with anyone there.
