Charlie64What good came / will come out of Cecil´s hunt ?
.
Ironic / amusing that WildCRU, the Oxford Research unit that was tracking the Lion announced that it received more than GBP 550.000 in donations after the death of Cecil. They announced that 'supported by the incredible generocity of these donations ..... we will expand our work in adjoining countries.'
Plus there is an 'adorable furry replica' of Cecil going on sale from next month at USD 5.99 will full proceeds going to WildCRU.
Clearly the anti publicity was / is massive. On the flip side hopefully it has worken up (albeit only temporarily) some of the hunting bodies to come out with Statements on Lion hunting and conservation.
Hardly clouds and silver lining stuff but ....

fairgameThe good will be the incarceration of some dip shit PH and the unification of all of us to wholly condemn this sort of bullshit.
To set some sort of standard that is both acceptable and plausible to the general public.

CharlesLHopefully a bit of education for the vast majority that are not anti or pro hunting. They may never become hunters, but at least they may learn about the role of hunting in conservation.

MJinesA wakeup call for DSC and SCI to dramatically alter their strategy and tactics going forward, nah, I sort of doubt it. A clarion call for the NRA to get involved in hunting issues before it is too late, yeah, I can only hope.
