Botswana.
Anyone still hunting there? I have always wanted to go there, especially the Okavango Delta. I did a search and the latest posts are several years old. Anyone have recent experiences?

7kongoniIt seems to be an elephant hunting destination mainly. I hunted ele in the Chobe area (CH8) last July...saw good buff and sable but none on quota. Very friendly country.

SteveGlI would expect an huge increase in hunting in Botswana. Unfortunately, it will be unregulated, mismanaged, disorganised and unsustainable ... because it will be done by poachers.
http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/6481046931We were there in September 2010, NG32 (which will close September 2012). Attached is the link to the hunt report.

Kathi,
That was one of my favorite reports ever posted. What did the tusks end up weighing?
Greg,
Thank you for the kind words. Mongoose guessed low 70's, Cobus was mid 60's, Ivan was mid 60's, and when they were brought to Mochaba and "officially" weighed 58.4 and 54.8.
I guess you never know by dimensions what it will weigh.
Botswana was an absolute fantastic trip. Cannot say enough about Johan Calitz and his crew.

It happens, ours went the same way (they said 70+, ended up 63x57).
And I agree - there's no finer operation in Botswana, and no finer concession in Africa than NG-32. Shame it's closing!
