Bwana1Great idea
On a recent safari my PH showed me a really great tip. When you use shooting sticks, also rest your shooting sholder arm elbow on a second set of sticks. He had a Stoney Point tripod, that a tracker would set up under my elbow at the same time he set up the sticks. It made an amazing difference in being able to hold the rifle- just like it was on a bench rest.

BlankI found that once the PH set the sticks, if they'd take one step to the right, I could put my elbow in the crook of theirs, as they glassed the animal. Made a very steady rest. It put us both close together, and ensured that we were looking and communicating (in a whisper)about the proper target.
Works good for plains game at longer distances, but wouldn't worry about it for DG. I think I'd rather have him on the gun as a backup.

graybirdMy PH would cup his hands and place them under my elbow; thereby, supporting my shooting arm. Worked great until he dicide I needed to graduate, because I didn't need his help any longer.
