PHASA STATEMENT: RUDI BRITS
Alleged fraudster, Rudi Brits, trading as 'Huntin' Africa', was arrested on Saturday night, 2nd September, in Boshof in the Free State province of South Africa. He was conducting an illegal hunt with USA clients and was in possession of an illegal firearm.
Mr Brits is not a registered professional hunter nor an outfitter in any province.
Opportunistic individuals use the lucrative hunting industry to con unsuspecting foreign hunting clients into paying huge deposits on pseudo hunts. They stand not only to lose their hard earned money but also their trophies.
PHASA urges clients and hunting agents to verify hunts with PHASA's offices before confirming a booking to make sure the outfit/PH is a member in good standing. Please note that some unscrupulous outfits are using PHASA insignia fraudulently so best is to check their authenticity with the association in writing or telephonically.
Mr Brits was denied bail today, 4 September, and will appear in court on 6 Sept again.
