Karl SWarthog trophy fees?
Should warthog trophy fees be increased? At least they can be exported to the US, unlike cheetah... Have a look at attached video and tell me waht you think.

475GuyIf all the rest of the warthogs are like that "cheeky" one, it could be put into the dangerous class.

Warthog are definitely dangerous. We had one charge on my last Safari. Very nearly got the PH. One of the most exciting points of the trip.

ROSCOEI think pigs are some of the most fun animals to hunt in africa...Hunting them on foot can be a blast.

We're going to be "gifted" with a health care plan we are forced to purchase and fined if we don't, Which purportedly covers at least ten million more people, without adding a single new doctor, but provides for 16,000 new IRS agents, written by a committee whose chairman says he doesn't understand it, passed by a Congress that didn't read it but exempted themselves from it, and signed by a President, with funding administered by a treasury chief who didn't pay his taxes, for which we'll be taxed for four years before any benefits take effect, by a government which has already bankrupted Social Security and Medicare, all to be overseen by a surgeon general who is obese, and financed by a country that's broke!!!!! BriceI think Warthogs are very underrated as tropohies. Damned smart critters! I didn't know they were as nutty and aggressive as those in the video. What in hell got into that pig?

I think you summed up why Saeed calls his best friend "Walterhog".

Use Enough GunNo, warthog trophy fees should not be increased. Great video!

300magmanWow. I did not take my last PH seriously when he said the warthog was agressive.

Josh A.Now that is a hog. Takes a great deal of testicular mass to stick a long tooth up a cheetah's butt.

Andrew McLarenKarl,
Classic video. Thanks for posting.
I see typical Kalahari sand in foreground. I see typical Kalahari trees and grass in middle ground, but seems like a non-Kalahari hill in right background. Where was the video taken?
In good hunting.

Safari-HuntKarl,
Brings back some scary memories! I was charged by a wounded wartie from 5 meters when I was still stupid 15 or so and it all hapenned in slow motion. He did cut my leg and I kicked him back and shot him at pointblank.
But watching the video made me realise how quick they are and how quick everything must have happened I'm getting shivers down my spine just thinking about it. 80kg +- of pure muscle and they are pigheaded as well.

I always try to use enough gun but then sometimes a brainshot works just as good.

Andrew, sorry, I do not know where it was taken, as I did not take the footage. It was sent to me by a friend. I do think that the "hill" in the background could be a low dune, or it might be close to Gobabis/ Leonardville in Namibia, which technically still constitutes Kalahari.
Fred, I had a young one charging about 18 months ago. I shot it with a lever actioned .357 Mag at point blank range, so close it left powder burns. (Photo might be too grapic to post...?) This shot was made one-handed (as I was walking very casually with the rifle in one hand), into its face, too low to hit anything vital, but luckily it turned him. He ran off 20 odd meters, turned, and came again. This time I was ready for him, and dropped him for good. They sure can be cheeky.

Kamo GariThat reminds me of a similar event I witnessed in Kenya in the 80s, except that rather than a cheetah and warthog, it was a rhino and an elephant. The ele was drinking at a waterhole, with the rhino hanging back observing, and getting a bit agitated. All of of sudden, the rhino backed up, then charged at the elephant. With a good head of steam, Mr. Rhino rammed the ele right solidly in the arse area. The ele spun around, and a heavyweight testosterone party ensued. Soon after, the rhino backed down and trotted off. I was so enthralled, I missed getting the actual ramming on film, but I have pictures somewhere of the ensuing melee. Amazing stuff. Thanks for posting that footage of the bold swine. Funny stuff!

Kamo GariOh, my! That must have made for some gut jelly that day, eh? The powder burns are clear as day. Saved yourself some cooking time in the end, no doubt...
Thanks for the pic.
