paper animal targets
been doing weekly shooting sessions with my rifles for upcoming Africa trip. Anyone know of a good place to get some animal paper targets, preferably african animals obviously. I want to get out of the rut of just shooting at bullseye type rifle targets from my shooting stixs. There are several archery type ones Ive found, but they tend to be quite large in size and harder to get on small backing boards available at my local range.
thanks
Willi

I think Safari Press has paper cape buffalo targets for sale. I'm not sure about the size, cost, or availability of other animals.

Rhyme of the Sheep Hunter
May fordings never be too deep, And alders not too thick; May rock slides never be too steep And ridges not too slick.
And may your bullets shoot as swell As Fred Bear's arrow's flew; And may your nose work just as well As Jack O'Connor's too.
May winds be never at your tail When stalking down the steep; May bears be never on your trail When packing out your sheep.
May the hundred pounds upon you Not make you break or trip; And may the plane in which you flew Await you at the strip.

This is the one that Safari Press has. It's Doctari's buffalo targets.

I had the same idea to give my wife some practice before our upcoming trip and her first foray into big game hunting. In the end, I simply searched the web for pictures of African game and copied/pasted about 30 pictures of game into PowerPoint and printed them out on regular paper. They work well at 50 yards and give the impression of game farther out, 100 - 200 yards.

I've built a pellet trap in the basement and allow my grandchildren (and me too!) to shoot magazine covers and pics downloaded from the net. With 15-20ft, the targets seem like larger animals when viewed through a scope. Lots of cheap practice and a chance to reduce any flinches that may have developed during full power rifle shooting.

For indoor practice it's hard to beat animal crackers !! 50 'range with 22 pistol is challenging for the paper punchers . Smiler
