Send it back. They have a lifetime guarantee. Eeker

I think they ask for a UKP5 postage fee but that's all.

Is there any hope? Surgery? I am sorry, I feel for you, you must be in shock. Have a stiff one and reflect on all the good times you shared...

Funny stuff. I feel for you. I have a Tilley too, but now only wear it when doing yard work. My mainstay when hunting is a Rogue olive green brimmed safari hat. I like your photo, and also the photo within the photo.

David, you have a "stiff one"? Sounds like maybe you popped the wrong pill? Sorry, I couldn't resist.

I was very excited when I heard about tilley hats and wore one on my honeymoon to alaska, it now is only a yard work hat too as I mistakenly ordered it slightly larger as their "meant to be worn a little looser" IIRC. anyways, it's too loose and I could never get used to it, but it is the big brimmed one and helps my fair skin when mowing.

It always great when you have a piece of gear that has gone everywhere with you, it gives such great reminders. you could send it back, I'd ask them only to repair it, in case they are inclined to replace. it would loose it's great character. Smiler

No way I am hunting with a chap with a buggered Tilley.

By the looks of it you also need a new hat.

Doyle,

I agree with Mike. If you send it back to Tilley, you may lose your cherished hat forever, because they would most likely replace it, or it may come back with a lame repair job. Seriously, I'd take it to someone you know who is very good at sewing, have them use some canvas backing material, and sew/repair it the best they can. Even watch them while they repair it. That hat has too many memories to risk losing. After the repair job, you could still continue to wear it, or retire it and buy a new one to hunt in. Sorry, but I'm a sucker for memorabelia. I would NOT trade that hat for a new one.

Too much character to send it back for a new one. Get someone with a little talent and have them hand sew it. It will close the hole and add many more years of service.

DO NOT GET RID OF IT!

Tilley will not only replace it, they will (if you request it) mark the hat as non-returnable, and then send the old one back to you with your new one. You get a new hat, plus the wonderful memento of the old one.

They may even scold you for keeping it as long as you did. When I brought my old one in, showing roughly the same kind of tattering as yours, they informed me that I should not have waited so long...they would gladly replace it as soon as the first little hole shows. Wonderful customer satisfaction policy.

I agree re keep it. My old hats are hanging up. They look a bit old and ragged.

I agree. When sending it on also include your photo and the history of the hat. It would be a cool photo to fame and hang on the trophy room wall! A TROPHY HATT! dancing

My wife( child bride) reminded me she bought that hat for me. It is a T5 not the more common T3. She just handed me a new one from Long Grass Outfitters She had it put back in case of need.
