john eLuangwa River Valley Hunt w/ Muchinga Adventures
Outfitter: Johnny DuPlooy's Muchinga Adventures
Booking Agent: Adam Clement's Safari Trackers
Dates: August 22 - September 1, 2006
Area: Nyaminga GMA, across the Northern Luangwa National Park
PH: Alistar Norton
Hunting Partner: Bwanamrm
I would like to compliment Bwanamrm's post with several photos of the animals I was lucky enough to harvest. This concession is truly an exceptional place with an abundance of animals. There is truly no shortages of Buff, Croc, Hippo, Bush buck, Leopards & Lions. Johnny Duplooy & PH Alistar Norton hold bragging rights to an incredibly high success ratio on cats. A large black maned lion was seen on the adjacent camp (Chanjuzi) and as of rumors today, a fellow AR hunter (Scott or John) harvested the lion. Hopefully that rumor is true and the pics will be posted soon.
Sunset on the river.
42" Buff
13' Croc (Missing his left from foot)

Great concession, good camp, knowledgable PH: A TRUE AFRICA ADVENTURE !!!!!
Special thanks to Laura DuPlooy...helpful, knowledgable, supportive, friendly and a true class act.

Kyler HamannVery Nice.
That is a really good buffalo. Not only the width but the way he drops and curls way back in.
Thanks for the report.

RIPBeautiful set of handlebars on that buffalo, with excellent dropped-mass, to coin a term.

All the rest is great stuff too. Any details forthcoming on the guns and loads? Like, is this a Merkel 470 NE that took the huge river tusker? With a brain shot?

MacD37JohnE , is your Merkel a 470NE or a 500NE? and what were the conditions leading up to the takeing of the Hippo! I took a good hippo, and Buffalo in this area as well, an few years ago.
There is certainly not shortage of good Buffalo in the Valley. Your pictures bring back memories, Thanks for posting. Waiting for the blow by blow discription though!
Congratulations...............

Nice pics, John!

bwanamrmHeck, Mike, their PH Alistar Norton took those photos... after John shot that big buff I would have "accidently" found my way behind that bull for a picture if I would have been there!
