What is at the end of your clients rifle??

KMG Hunting SafarisThank you Saeed,
He was using my rifle for the Spotted Hyena. That is a suppressor at the end of the barrel.

farbedoWhat caliber and suppressor? That is a tiny suppressor for a high power cartridge.
Great trophies!
Jeremy

KMG Hunting SafarisThank you Jeremy. The rifle is a Ruger M77 Hawkeye in .300 Win Mag, which is plenty enough for a Spotted Hyena.
The suppressor is an Aimzonic, which are made in Sweden. I currently have 3 of them, and very pleased with their performance, but it was the small size that drew me to them. The suppressor on my .308 Win is even smaller.
The wife will be very jealous of that hyena

I always try to use enough gun but then sometimes a brainshot works just as good.

KMG Hunting SafarisHi Frederik,
Thank for for the message pal. I guess majority of bulls have figure 8 shaped horns in the areas that we hunt, but have also found this to be the case with most areas that we hunt. Interestingly, also found that the biggest bulls, inch wise, has always been the figure 8 bulls. The "punte" bulls , seem to be not as deep as the figure 8 bulls.

Thank you very much for the advice. Usually when I see a shooter, all thoughts of photos beforehand goes out the window, but will certainly pay attention to this.

Probably my favourite animal to hunt. These trail cam photos are from one of our areas in the Limpopo.

Bwana338Good morning Marius,
See live pictures show what is available and there is always someone looking for Animals that your will post a picture of.
That is a Nice picture of a Leopard in day light. Just what a leopard hunter dreams of, cat out in the open and plenty of day light to make a great shot. Even for old eyes, good daylight sure help you see your animal, and no need to hurry or rush your shot. That is after your PH give you the go ahead.
I have seen hyena's over the years and walked up quite close a few times, with in 30 yards. They just look at you and then trot off. I have never put them on my to go after list. However that is a nice picture you posted.

Bwana338Two cats, how do you hunt the little buggers?
What are the odds of that taking place?

This was a father and son hunt. All of our Caracal hunts are done over hounds. It is pretty much the only way to hunt them, and the Eastern Cape is one of the only areas in South Africa where you are allowed to run them with dogs.
First cat was taken on day 1 and the second cat was taken on day 7. It was two different hound packs that picked up each cat, in two different areas. It is impossible to say how long it will take the hounds to pick up something, as conditions change from unfavourable to favourable each day. We notify multiple hound packs in the area that we are looking for a Caracal, and usually will carry on with a hunt while the dogs work in the background. The hounds men will notify us when the hounds are chasing, by which time we will stop our hunt immediately and head in the direction of where the pack is travelling by that time. We will usually then catch the last part of the chase.
It is of course the hunter's choice of either doing it this way or running with the pack, but there is no guarantee that they will even pick anything up over the duration of the safari, so can be very time consuming. Doing it this way, we still hunt other species until the chase is hot and its time to move closer.
