1115CITES Question
In anticipation of my 21 day hunt in Tanzania this year, I need some experienced info on the CITES permit. Do I need it before I go, or do I wait until I get back and apply for just whatever species I have taken that CITES applies to? Also, how long does it take to get, and where do I apply. I hate to sound like a dummy, but the CITES website is not really much help. This has probably been answered many times before, if so please forgive me.

BlankLook at
www.fws.gov. Especially the parts and memorandums about importation, under DMA (Dept. of Management Authority) where you apply for your permits.

butchlocyou usually will have time after your hunt to geet them. Normally it takes a lot longer to get trophys out of africa than it does to get cities permits, and for some of the animals it must be gotten in the country of origin not here. remember they are only good for 1 year

Michael Robinsonbutchloc is right.
But I have always got them in advance, because I am superstitious and have not wanted to jinx myself.

Once, I had to extend one for an extra year, and pay a small fee for the extension (I think it was $25), because my trophies weren't back within the one year period of the original permit.
