Bwana1Firearms shipping
Has anyone ever shipped their rifles to their safari company before the safari? This might be easier than traveling with them.Just an idea. THANKS

GeorgeSIt's actually a LOT harder. The firearms would be considered exports by the U.S. gov't, and would require export permits. On the other end, many countries do not permit the importation of firearms without the owner being present.
Forget it.

new_guyI checked into that in '03 and here's what I was able to determine.
In addition to GeorgeS' point, logistically they are also treated just like any other imported product and clear customs the same way (time-wise). Doesn't sound like a problem until you consider how long it takes items to clear customs in an African country.
It could take two days after arrival or it could take 6-months! So the problem is that you wouldn't be able to influence that time line. It might work out, it might not. Then again, takign them with you negates all those issues.

In addition to the info. you've been given. The safari company will advise you not to do it. God knows what might happen to them between the USA and Africa. Also African counties usually have pretty strict gun laws which could cause problems for operator you booked with if you send him guns.
