BigBoresPictures of Selby's .416 Rigby
While searching around here, I see several folks in the past have posted or offered to email pics of Harry Selby's .416 Rigby.
I'd love to see them.
Please post them again or email me a copy.
Thanks

WoodjackDo a search for "selbys 416" or " selby rifles"
actually if you look at the notch in the front reciever ring on the Selby and on this below:
http://www.waffenjung.de/html/fertigung.htmlthere does seem to be alot of metal removed from behind the bolt lug bearing areas(feed ramp also I would say), So how much metal do we really need there? There does not seem to be much left on that WaffenJung416.

Gail Selby & Harry Selby at Xugana airfield in the Okavango Delta in the late 1970's.
(I think Gail is holding a .275 Rigby rifle here but I'm not positive. I don't think it's the .416)
Harry's daughter, Gail Selby Wentink, has a web site. Some good hunting stories and info about the familiy. It's worth a visit. Gail's web site:

bulldog563I am pretty sure she is holding Bell's 275 rigby. IIRC the picture is from her first Ele hunt where she used the 275 succesfully. I think Bell's Rigby was purchased by Ruark and given the Harry the hold for Mark Selby until he was old enough. I think Mark still has the rifle today.

BaxterBWas sold long ago... in a galaxy far far away...
That to me is the Grail... I actually saw the order form from Bob Ruark for the engraved plate for that gun. I also saw the order form for Bob's 244 H&H mag rifle. Seems he wanted a 2 1/4 pound trigger and they didnt want to do it that light. _BB
