500grainsMay I ask a taxidermy question? If a client asks you to "fix" a soft bossed buffalo by building up the boss to make it look hard, is the result convincing?

RustyHey, Dan!
Two Questions.
1. Have you ever had a trophy "augmented" in any way?
2. Why would you ask Jerry such a question?

Jerry HuffakerDan,
This bull was not completely hard so I had to build part of the boss. As you can see if it is done right it is very convincing. No bull leaves my shop with a soft boss.

SBTI think you have definetly gotten "the look". Is it the photo or did you add some gold/bronze color to what I believe is normaly an all black nose?

Yes, I could not tell if that was the original boss or if it had been enhanced, so it is very convincing.

That is just wrong, to be "convincing" suggest that the authenticity could not be argued, the hardness of the boss is either bonafide or not!

Jerry HuffakerRayRay,
That's true in principle, but I mount everything according to the customers specifications,(sometimes whether I like it or not) and I have yet to have a customer ask to make the boss on their buffalo soft.
SBT, It's just a reflection, I am not a very good photographer, and I struggle with light when taking mount pictures.
