September South Africa and Namibia
I am looking at hunting in Northwest South Africa and Namibia in September, and only plan to bring home skins. What animals would be on your wish list?

Thanks,
Charles

Zebra would be #1, followed by a Blue Wildebeest bulls skin , then a bull Kudu

Charles:

Depends on what you are planning.

some nice hide rugs back by felt or leather are outstanding (I have 3) circular or rectangle hall runner.

Zebra Hartman or mountain or both
Giraffe
Springbok
Gemsbok
Eland
Kudu
Bushbuck
Impala

with the above you have the ability to make some outstanding rugs.

In my opinion Zebra, Blue Wildebeest and Springbok are the most eye appealing.

This region is an area that I have wanted to see so this will be primarily a sightseeing trip. I will add Hartman Zebra, Burchell Zebra, Springbok, and Blue Wildebeest to my wish list.

Thanks everyone.

Charles with so many different trophy options available in Namibia I would suggest that you consider another trophy than the Burchells Zebra. If you want a Zebra flatskin you can purchase one at Nakara Leather in Windhoek for around 600 bucks. You can bring it home with you as a finished leather product no problem with customs. This would save you a few bucks and I would suggest taking a Red Hartabeest, they're grossly underrated as a trophy both in pursuit and as a trophy. A big brindle striped bull is beautiful and he's challenging to hunt.

I agree with SafariSean that a Red Hartebeest is a great trophy and makes for a nice skin. This one is on the wall (10 foot ceiling for perspective).

Thanks for the tip on Red Hartebeest. I had a rifle case made from my last one.

Friend shot a female nyala for a rug. Beautiful skin.

I'll bet it was! Unfortunately I don't think Nyala is a possible where I am going and I think it's the wrong time of year for hunting females. I hope to do some cull hunting, but it will probably be non-trophy males.
