Women at Christmas
Has anybody else had their wife mess with their stuff at Christmas?

ALLEN W. JOHNSON - DRSS

Into my heart on air that kills
From yon far country blows:
What are those blue remembered hills,
What spires, what farms are those?
That is the land of lost content,
I see it shining plain,
The happy highways where I went
And cannot come again.

Nobody decorates my trophies! shame

My wife ex wife, tried that once. Not being nasty, but I don't care for it, makes fun of the animal

I'll decorate anything else,

Merry Christmas to all!

I have no problem with it. The mounts belong to Sadie as much as to me and the garland tie around the neck of each trophy is not offensive at all.

It is not allowed in our house, we both think it is disrespectful.

Right now, my warthog, russian boar and mountain goat all have santa hats on them courtesy of the girlfriend. At least most of serious trophies are back in Colorado where she can't deface them. Wink

Take it from a long time divorced man. Be happy she is there -and let her do what she wants. You're lucky to have a wife to complain about! (The old country expression says it best: "You never miss the water until the well runs dry")

My kids love to decorate my kudu and my inyala. The Russian boar always gets some type merriment as well.

I say RELAX let your girls have some fun after all it is CHRISTMAS.. Smiler

Heck when my girls were real little the big one thought she'd maken daddyb happy by giving one of my bear rugs a cut anb a style job.

What can you do but laugh, you can't fix it and the child had the best of intentions.

I'd say a little decoration on the mounts is a very harmless attempt at some humor and to get upset about it proves that you should switch to decaffeinated. AKA LIGHTEN UP!!!

All the disrespectful comments make me chuckle when I recently read a thread on AR that tells of someone plumbing up a full mount giraffe to use as a scotch dispenser, mostly everyone thoughtr that was cool!

Obviously you married the wrong one or you are hard to get along with.

My long suffering wife has cheerfully supported my hunting and gun collecting for decades. She is more than welcome to hang Christmas decorations where ever she likes.

I wish I had the trophies for her to decorate!!!! As it is she had to settle for a 9 foot tree with 600 lights on it. Looks fantastic, I am sure she likes it even better now that I put her presents out today.

She tells me though that I can have the 10 foot long ledge in the hallway for putting trophies whenever I finally get some. I love the warthog somebody just posted coming out of a hole. But what I have wanted for a long time now is a nice lion half body mounted in a ferocious leaping position, just not sure if I want to put it over my desk or over my bed. Now I get to imagine how funny it would look with a santa cap. Smiler

Now there's a statement from a married man! You own 1/2 the house, you pay 1/2 the bills and YOU get a little 10' ledge to call your own.Smiler

I think the leopard with the hat is great. Still, spontaneously I feel that putting decorations on animals is not my cup of tea. They are enough in themselves, just like a good oil-painting, and you do not put decorations over a paining, do you? Decorations on trophies gives, in my eyes, an impression that you do not value them enough as they are, they become just furniture and nothing more.

I know that my wife feels like this even more than I do, I it will not be a problem here.

Edited: Still, if your wife is happy with it, it might be worth giving in for a little time. After all, Christmas is a family holiday! wave

Regards,
Martin

IMO most couples that are not happy are the ones who split all the bills 1/2 and 1/2. Happy couples should put their money together not 1/2 and 1/2.

The only animal in my trophy room that is fair game is the baboon. As for the others, as soon as I see a Kudu, Warthog, Whitetail, etc.. in the bush with a Santa hat and Christmas balls, then maybe I'll change my mind.

I figure I made out all right, we have four rooms, I kept one for my junk/future library, we have one that will become a babies room and then there is the computer/craft room. The best part is we have a 3 car garage that started ended up all shop. Big Grin (started out with "I might need the one car side" then just snowballed).

Well, I actually have just enough space for her Honda Civic and for Christmas she's getting a garage door opener.

Well, I was actually in the middle of welding a new step stool so better get back out there.

Last Year Lois got me some Dillon Precision Pin-up posters, had them laminated and hung them on the wall. The year before she helped me build a canoe and kayak rack on the North side of the house. This year she helped me prepare and layout the concrete pour for the patio slab. She can do anything with the house she wants.

To each his own, but I do think some folks could use a bit more fiber in their diet.

The corners are all filled with trophies, to the point that there is no place left for a tree, the pedestal mounted ibexes have become the "Xmas ibex" for several years now. She loves it, I like it & the tiny people think it is pretty neat cause none of the other kids they know have a "Christmas Ibex"

I agree on the idea of a little Christmas cheer never hurt anyone, plus, if it keeps the wife happy and she lets you go hunting.... there is no downside
