I am so acustomed to wearing much tougher boots than this. Why such a boot? I am also used to hunting mountains and rugged terrain?

I think I paid about $65USD in Bulawayo for pair of the Safari Courtrney's in 2003. They were about the same last year also. I just bought a pair of Russell Safari PHs from Cabelas for about half price, $149 last week. I have been wearing them some to break them in. Nice boot. Cabelas must be closing them out. I heard it was a trial order Cabelas made with Russell. They are on the website but not in the catalog. I like mine so far and the price was right.

Actually I never saw them on the website. I was on a plane headed to a business meeting when the guy next to me saw me reading a SCI magazine and asked me if I had a good buff hunt. He recognized me from the range and we started a conversation. It led to boots and he mentioned he had just bought a pair of the Russell Safari PHs from Cabelas. Well to make a long story short, when I got to the airport in Atlanta I called information and got Cabelas number and ordered a pair. So, I never really saw the ad online. The ones I got were the brown leather with green cordura panels on the shaft, Vibram wedge sole. Nice boots for the price. Hope this helps. If they do not show up online, maybe you should just give them a call.

I bought my Courtneys at Gigas and Sons in Bulawayo. Last year I went there and also to Fazzi's (sp???) The Gigas price was about $75US and the Fazzis price was a little cheaper if I remember correctly. I am curious where the discount outlet is? I would like to visit it sometime. I really wish now that I had bought a pair of the elephant skin ones. Maybe next time.

Next time one of you guys goes to Zim, you need to take orders for Courtneys. I bet you could pay for the flight with shoe sales. I know I would place an order for a pair or 2.

Just got my first pair of Courteney boots...I got the Safari model...The stitching REALLY bothers me...I hits me across the toes and is almost painful...I've emailed Westley Richards about a return...I think I'll go back to the 7 inch Browning Featherweights...I was impressed with the quality of the boot but they just didn't fit me right...

I had the same problem with my first pair and I contacted Westley Richards and sent them back. They credited me for the shoes and sent me a different style. But yes, you can run into that problem.

I'm confused about bringing elephant Courtneys back into the states from Zim. I bought croc and ele belts and such in Chiredzi(sp) in 05. The shop gave me a CITES permit for them, passed thru Zim customs and Atlanta customs no prob. Why would it be different for boots than belts?
