I have not heard of any restrictions on the importation of foodstuff of any nature in African countries but if you are planning a Banteng hunt, be very careful what you take into Australia - those guys are paranoid!

Do not even transit with anything. Me as a diabetic had to do some fast talking and my luck was that I had requested from my doctor a letter explaining snacks and medication.

I also take hard candy. Beware of chocolate. I enjoy a piece or two of dark chocolate after dinner . The last time I took some it got so hot in the SUV transferring is camp, the entire bag melted into one big mess.

I can't believe none of you guys buy the big bag of hard candy at Costco. Great variety of all the name brands in a convenient 5lb bag. It was very popular the whole time I was in camp. Hard candy seems to be much preferred over chocolate and obviously much easier to deal with (no melting).

Small bags of peanut M&M's.
Mostly because I LOVE them.

On my two trips, I took individually wrapped butterscotch hardtack candy and Slim Jims. The Slim Jims were a huge hit with the PH and trackers.
