Burkina Faso
Hello everyone
I have gained a lot from this forum. One of the countries I discovered and which excited me was Burkina Faso. So after exchanging emails with jbderunz I decided to go and check out the hunting there.
I will fly out on March 30th and will be back April 14th. The idea of hunting a lion by tracking was very appealing.Success is low but it will still be fun.
So it is a 12 day 1X1 for Lion, Buffalo, Roan etc. You will get the good, bad and the ugly as soon as I am back.
Regards
Aziz

BoghossianAwesome Aziz! Are you hunting with Toufic Hanna? I have heard only good things about him.
I hunted Northern Cameroon a couple years ago. The North West part of Africa is a safari hunter's dream. Much better than the southern countries. More sense of adventure, more actual on foot hunting in the French tradition. They do most of the hunting by tracking, not driving around.
Are you going after Roan and Buff? They have some huge Roan up north. I took one over 30 inches in 2004. Check out the hunting report listed on AR. While it is written about Cameroon, it should give you some insight for Burkina.
Cheers
Mac

JudgeGI'm looking forward to your report! It's been quite a while since I've hunted there and I'm anxious to see what the hunting environment is now.
Here's a pretty good bull (albeit black and not red):
JudgeG ... just counting time 'til I am again finding balm in Gilead chilled out somewhere in the Selous.
Aziz, don't be shy with your camera. You know how we are on this forum, we want the photos! The camp, the PH, the trackers, the critters, etc. Have fun and say hello to Toufic for me. I hear his PH is ex-Foreign Legion.

I am hunting with Toufic Hanna. The only PH who speaks some English is the ex-Foreign Legion guy, so I will be hunting with him.
I have my trusted digital camera with me and there will be plenty of photographs.
Thank you for all your best wishes; I am going more for a different safari experience than anything else.

Aziz

mr rigbyThat is the fine thing about a safari travel to places where few has visted before you.
Sounds fascinating the tour and to have a fun hunt in a country that isnt mentioned so much as others.
Looking forward to the report , good hunting.

bwanamrmGood luck Aziz! You always hunt some interesting places. I have wanted to hunt western Africa for some time but few U.S. booking agents offer Burkina Faso or Benin. Look forward to your Hunt Report!

jbderunzGood luck Aziz
I couldn't visit Toufic this year but 2 close friends were there last month
burkina and they performed well above what they wanted : big game and upland shooting.
I would have sworn that Winks will come with You?
I am sure it'll be a splendid souvenir
Bonne chance

jb, let's discuss the Burkina options over a beer at the Rambouillet Game show. Are you coming?

Hello Jim
Thank you for your concern. The World Health Organization has reported cases of meningococcal disease in several African countries within or near the meningitis belt: Burkina Faso, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kenya, Sudan, and Uganda.
These areas are part of the Meningitis belt, there is an ongoing Meningococcal Meningitis epidemic in Burkina Faso with over 7000 reported cases, and over 500 deaths.
I received my Meningococcal vaccine 10 days ago.
