Giant Eland
The lord derby eland has always been the antelope I would most like to hunt and I'm in the early research stage as to country, outfitter, etc. before booking a hunt. Any experience here? Pros and cons of C.A.R. vs. Cameroon? Other dreamers who would like to hunt the giant eland?

I took a Lord Derby in 99 in northern Cameroon. It is by far my most awesome tropy ever!!!!

Pierre Guerrini who owns Faro West is far and away the best Lord Derby outfitter. He takes 10-11 Derby a year and is 100 percent for 4 plus seasons. He just took the number 2 Derby ever in Cameroon, which breaks a record set 40 years ago. The Cabela's took 3 Derby last year and are going back this year.

If you want more info e-mail me.

David, I've been hunting G. Eland with my farther in Cameroun i 94. We shot a 47" bull the first evening. So the herad cross a track - stalked/tracked them for an hour - and he was dead! We only so Eland twice on 12 days hunt - but we never tracked them after we shot the bull, and we saw plenty tracks!

In 2000 my farther was in CAR and he shot a 48" bull. This time he so several and and could have shot several to, but he felt he could wait for teh right one!

I can only talk about Cameroun, but my farther has no doubt - CAR is the place for Giant Eland! He travelled with Safaria.

You should contact Harald Wolf / www.hataritimes.com for a back issue of the No 6, which covers big game hunt i central africa!

Any way the hataritimes should be a part of any mans magazins!
