David HulmeMeanwhile, in Chewore....66 Pound Elephant Bull
Hello
Whilst some of us have been hunting in the lowveld the last couple of weeks, Chi Kit Chai of the USA and PH Richard Tabor have been up in Chewore, Roger Whittall's Zambezi Valley concession. Chi Kit travelled to Chewore hoping to take a big elephant bull and a male lion. As you can see from the pictures, his hopes became reality. The elephant's tusks weighed in at 66 and 60 pounds respectively. The lion is a decent Zambezi Valley representative. Congratulations to Chi Kit and Richard.
I am off to hunt an elephant bull with Richard Tabor and his client tomorrow. I shall update you upon my return in about two weeks. Until then, happy hunting.
Dave

475GuyThat's very nice. Looks like the guy's learned to shoot a biggie without a muzzle brake, good for him.

MARK H. YOUNGDavid,
Congrats to Mr.Chai on bot his elephant and lion. Good show!
I think a client's ability to walk has a lot to do with hunter success in Chewore. It is quite hilly and may be very challenging for some folks. In the past it produced big ivory and in fact in the mid 90's I think they took one there around 90 pounds. I don't see a good reason why some of those big boys are not still there.

dakota45056Congratulations!
That's a big bull for the Zambezi Valley, especially at Chewore or Dande.
Usually, a good average is 40-45 lbs, but maybe this depends on the time of year too??
Anyway, a really nice elephant.
