<CAPMED>I was using a sako hunter 375 for some feral hog hunting last weekend and one shot jammed the bolt. I had to beat it open with the heel of my hand. I looked at the brass -- its primer looked good (not blown out) anyone have an idea why? Rem 270gr factory loads I think. We shot before and after the stuck round no problemo.
Makes you think twice about DG rifles. Luckily pigs don't eat you Capmed

Was that a handload that stuck or a factory round?
If a handload, sometimes the neck thickens imperceptibly resulting in a tighter fit between the chamber and the case neck or case mouth. When the round fires, pressures rise causing the brass to 'stick' to the chamber.

<CAPMED>George thanks for responding--- it was a factory round - My gunsmith chewed my butt for not segragating that round and letting him investigate. As soon as I get access to my empty cases -I'll try to find it.

<T/Jazz>The new Sako has gotten some great reviews as of lately. Looks like they have gotten themselfs a fine rifle for hunting. I am thinking about one in a .416 caliber.

Heritage ArmsThe old FN sako are great, I have used one in .300 H& H for years. The new ones are OK for anything that your life does not depend on, if of course you do not mind your scope mounts shifting under recoil from heavier calibers

The Sako 375 H&H with FN action is Mauser M98 thru and thru. Pal of mine's got one, I checked. This is an old rifle, predating the L491's, A-series and 75's

MacD37You are absolutely right Pete, you know how it is when you get old, you just scan things too often, instead of reading them throughly! In fact I have a 375 built on an FN Mauser action from a JC Higgins Mod 51 which is an FN comecrial as well. It has been so long since I've seen anything from Sako, or Weatherby that I simply "THINK" PUSH FEED when I see the name!
The realization that it is an FN Mauser, changes my reccomendation 180 Degs to about face! Sorry about that folks!
