Zimbabwe PH who lost his ranch?
My dad hunted with a PH in Zimbabwe in July, 2007, and we later heard that the guy lost his ranch in one of the land grabs sometime between then and June 2008. I wish I knew his full name, but Dad called him Tocky, or Tooky. I was wondering if anyone hunted with him, or knew him, and what had happened to him?

Futrdoc,

You must be referring to Tokkie van der Merwe, whom I know used to have a ranch in the Mwenezi (Nuanetsi) area, on the Bubye River. I et him years ago whilst working in that area. Seemed like a great guy and heard others say he was an excellent hunter. I have no idea where he is now but will try to find out...

If it is the same guy, I saw Tokkie at the show in Houston and he invited me to visit his ranch, which he still seems to be on. I gather by the description, it is the same ranch Dave is talking about. So, either it is not the same man, or he did not actually lose his ranch.

I can get you his contact details if you wish.

This is Three Ways Safaris, near Bubi Village. Tokkie reported a while back he still has a portion of his original ranch. Given name is Louis, Tokkie is nickname. Was a nice ranch. Probably has a website if you search foe same.

Thanks for the information everyone. I was hopeful that things weren't as bad as we had heard.
