OK, not trying to stir anything up but I've been curious about this for a while and just never asked. The photo of the guy behind the buff at the top of this page, is this a tongue in cheek exageration that somebody did in Photoshop?

I know it is customary for the hunter to be behind the animal in shots like this, as it tends to make the trophy appear larger when shot up close with a wide angle lense. However, in this case the results appear almost cartoonish. Either that guy has a REALLY small melon, or REALLY long arms.

Hope I'm not offending anybody! (I assume it is somebody who posts here.)

And I hope I don't appear stupid for asking about something that might be an obvious inside joke to others...

The pictured person is very famous in these parts. He is rare, he is "in season", he is difficult to catch and even more difficult to understand. However, he does provide a great deal of humor and "oh my goodness, did he just do that" type of entertainment. He is well known story teller, ladies man and inventor. He is a photographer and a GPS'er beyond comparison. His knowledge of rifles, bullets and ballistics is downright scary when considered in toto.

Regular AR'ers, have I given an adequate description of Walter?

Well that pretty much explains it then, thanks. It cracks me up every time I see it, I just wasn't sure if it was PC to laugh out loud.

God forbid if he was a man of high regard stricken with microencephalous and I was the one to mock his apearance. What is his on-line handle?

Many of you seem to think the photograph is of Walter. It is not. The photograph depicts, beginning in the foreground:
2. The largest bolt gun on earth, the famous wildcat .777MYPECKERISSMALL;
2. The buffalo on top of page 1 in the latest Rowland-Ward; and,
3. An extremely rare albino pygmy.

Glad to set the record straight.

Very true Mike, only if you know before hand what he is like!

People like me, however, are ordained to suffer his presence for the rest of our lives!

Use Enough Gun
mentea6b: Actually you are quite correct. He does have a really small melon and long arms. He is known as a Germanic Hobbit. His ancestors were captured and later domesticated by a group of royals from the UAE during a hunt in the Balkan Forests over 80 years ago. He has been trained from very small to do menial tasks including cleaning and repairing firearms, simple re-loading, carving crude rifle stocks,and playing with animals and small children. He is often taken on various safaris in order to provide campfire entertainment. However, when he is in the bush, he naturally reverts back to his basic instincts often dressing in strange, crude garb and head gear, all the while BBQing incessantly over an open fire. He can be quite obstinate and argumentative when others attempt to try to reason with him; thus you should never attempt to do so unless you are in a group of at least three others who are physically strong enough to stop him before he does damage to the Bakkie, the guns or to himself. Because of this, the progeny of the royals who first captured his kind have been cursed and are indeed predestined to suffer his presence for the rest of their mortal lives.
