475Guy, No particular allegiance to either Wichester or Ruger, just want to get the best rifle for the money. CZ's seem to be quite popular, as well as affordable.

Now if I didn't already have my Ruger RSM's, I'd jump on it.

Hogfan, I just happen to have a mint BRNO 602 in 375 with the deluxe walnut stock (no humpback) that has been correctly bedded and dbl cross bolted. It's available for $625. Shoots great. Joe.

I just sold a Remington classic .375 H&H for $500. It was in nearly new condition. It didn't have CRF.

I love my Winchester Model 70 in .375, but be cautious about buying one (new or used) made within about the last 5 years. I bought a new one in 2000 that wouldn't feed, the warranty shop couldn't make it feed, and neither could the factory. So they sent me a brand new gun which had exactly the same problem, I sent it back to the factory who kept it for about three months and returned it to me in WORSE shape than before. Finally, Mark Penrod straightened it out but the whole process took a couple of years and several hundred dollars.

Before buying, have sone dummy rounds made up with moderately blunt nosed bullets, and check feeding with all 3 rounds in the chamber, working the bolt fast.

Whatever way you get one that works, you'll love it.

I got my Winchester Mod 70 Super Express in 375 H&H with Leupold QD rings/mount, Burris Signature 1.5-6 scope, 3 boxes of Federal Safari ammo, brass, bullets, and reloading dies for around $850. The rifle was in very good shape. The bore was clean and bright and sharp. Finish was about 99%, the biggest problem was that the previous owner refinished the stock and sanded the checkering off. Not a big deal but I'd rather have the checkering. In looking for the condition find out how many rounds have been fired, how it was cared for, finish and wood condition etc.

With the high used gun prices for a Winnie, I'd opt for a new one because you're paying for a name. The used gun prices on Rugers aren't that bad. It depends on what you personally like. Are you a Win or Ruger guy? You can also go to a CZ in 375. There are several guys on the board who have FFL's and are willing to wheel-n-deal with you to get what you want.

I would find a decent FN or Mod. 98 Mauser or Win M-70 pre 64 and expect to pay about $1500 for it....I would prefer these old guns to ANY newly manufactured rifle on the market today....

I am in the market for a used 375 H&H bolt action. Nothing exotic, something like a Wichester or Ruger. Assuming the rifle is in good condition, what should I expect to pay? With regard to my assumption of "good condition", what should I look for in terms of assessing the gun's condition?
