Getting Trophies through customs in Atlanta
My trophies are packed and ready to be air freighted from my taxidermist in South Africa to Atlanta. I have heard some horror stories about mounts, hides, etc. being lost or quarantined through customs in Atlanta. Does anyone know a good agent to use in Atlanta? Any information is greatly appreciated

I am using Coppersmith. My stuff will go from Maun to Joberg to Atlanta to Houston and then to Utah.

Coppersmith has an office in Atlanta, contact Tammie Lewis at 404-366-1650. They have been clearing my trophies for 10+ years and I have never had any problems.

Another vote for Tammie. Ive used them twice with no trouble.

I have walked in the foot prints of the elephant, listened to lion roar and met the buffalo on his turf. I shall never be the same.

I clear my own trophies (at DFW) but they either come thru Atlanta or Dulles with no problems. When they arrive in either port USDA puts the shipment on hold while they check paperwork (and may open and inspect trophies). After that they come to DFW where it is no problem to self-clear. I have used Coppersmith in the past with no problems, though.

When difficulties arise often it is a paper work issue long before shipment arrives Stateside. Anything out of place by PH, dip and pack, shipping company or foreign customs etc. can cause difficulties on arrival.
A superior agent checks paper work with those mentioned before items are shipped.

Last three years through all the turmoil with USFW bringing in three eles and leopard I used Coppersmith and never had a problem.
Debbie in Seattle was awesome, met her in Reno and she is someone I would trust with my new heart replacement, if needed to be.
