BwannaNumber of guns into Zimbabwe
Is there any restriction on the number of rifles that can be taken into Zimbabwe? I understand there is a restriction on the amount of ammo, but is there are two gun limit like RSA?

retreeverB, there is a flying limit of 2 guns per case and the rest would be extra...

404WJJefferyRE RSA, no 2 rifle limit. Ome may bring up to 3 rifles and a shotgun, as long as they are not duplicate calibers. I have been informed by Air2000 that 3 is the limit, without raising eyebrows.

GrumulkinIt's not just what African countries will permit you to bring in you should be concerned about. Unless you want problems with U. S. Custom for trafficking in weapons of war, you have to limit yourself to 3 firearms unless you have a permit to take more out of the U.S.A.

GanyanaOfficially there is no limit to the number of guns one may bring into Zimbabwe, but effectively a five gun limit is being imposed. If you want to bring more, I would sugest that your outfitter or operator obtain the tempory import permits before you arrive at the airport or border.

CCMDocAny change in this since the thread first came up?
I would like to take both my AHR 600 Overkill as well as my Merkel 500 Nitro plus something lighter for plains game - so three rifles if I can take them to Zimbabwe in September.
Thanks in advance.

BwannaI originally posted this last April, because someone had told me there was a newly imposed limit. I only took 2 last June, but I had 3 with me in June 2006 and no one said anything. While I don't know specifically about the regulations, if things haven't changed you shouldn't have any issues.

zzzTook three in June 08.

CCMDocThanks, 3 it is then.
What cases did you use for the three rifles? A double rifle case a and a single? Separate for all three or were you able to stuff three in a Tuffpak?

stubbleduck47Anyone taking odds on Zimbabwe being a functional nation come this September?

kevin hendersonStubbleduck,
Are you asking if it will become a functional nation by September? Nothing I have seen on this forum lately indicates to me that it is functional now.

stubbleduck47Functional in terms of airlines operating into and out of major airports, sufficient food, fuel, and civil safety for somewhat normal commercial operations such as hunting to continue.

You'll still have the two bag limit with the airline, unless you want to pay some hefty finds for extra bags. I always get the guns in one tuffpak and then take only one additional checked on bag.
