RiaanGood deals on 2 x 1 buff hunts?
Hallo to all,
It’s been a while since I’ve been here, and being out of the safari loop for a while left me rather uninformed regarding current prices and trends.
Where should I start looking for a good deal on a 2 x 1 buffalo hunt – preferably in Zimbabwe or Mozambique? I’m not looking for the biggest of trophies, but rather for a quality hunt in a nice and rustic area where I can get multiple opportunities to select a mature bull.
I would prefer to hunt with a smaller company, rather than with one of the large “multi nationalsâ€. I don’t need a boastful and loud PH – the more reserved the better. I don't need a young guy either, the older the better.
Regards to all.

Russ GouldUnfortunately, the Zim outfitters we deal with don't offer much of a price break on 2x1 generally speaking, and it's really a 1x1 endeavor anyway. The 2x1 rate is only $50 less than 1x1.
However, we are lining up our own concession for 2009 and we will be offering a more reasonable pricing structure than the Zim Valley crowd. We will also be hunting Buff on private property in Zim next season.
For 2008, we can offer you a reasonable deal in the Mukwichi/Chewore concession but the buff hunting gets better toward the very end of the season....Sept-Oct so it's best to book late. Buff/PG is 12 days at $900 1x1 or 14 days @$800, the last two days being PG on private land. For 2x1, we can take off $100, so $800 and $700 respectively.
We also have some cow buff hunts for this year at about half the price you will pay for a bull. Those are closer to Beit Bridge so it's easy to get to from SA.
