I received this picture from Fritz Reinhard of an elephant shot in West Caprivi this past June. Tusks are 70/71lbs, although it's hard to appreciate given the view.


I had posted a while ago a pict of a "live" ele in the bush with a "guess the size" theme. They did not find the bull this season, but Fritz thought it to go 90+lbs. When I was there earlier this year, he told me he "shot" 136 elephants in his career (assume most with hunters). Nothing compared to the stories of old, but pretty amazing for today.

A big ol' elephant bull is high on my wish list and I literally hyperventilate looking at pix like these! The Caprivi Strip is usually good for more than it's share of nice elephant. One of these days..........
