Delta and SAA Parting Ways
Just heard this on another thread and had enough concern I wanted to post new. Anyone know about this, is it real? When? etc.

Thanks,

Be fine with me. Maybe than can code share with AA out of DFW. It would make my life a whole lot easier the next time I go.

Being somewhat aware of the prospective "divorce", Yesterday (through my travel guru, Kathi Klines, of course0 I went ahead and used up all my Delta FF points and got a ticket through SAA/Delta to Harare for Feb. 26th. I was 2000 points short, but didn't want to wait and coughed up the $80 some-odd-dollars for the additional fee. Bankruptcy and change of partners was a'coming, I figured and I decided to do it even though all hunting plans are still somewhat askew. But, isn't most of Africa askew?

My understanding (and simple faith) is that once issued, it is good to go, regardless of the split.

Maybe those with points ought to strike while the iron is still hot? He who hesitates is lost.. or a lot smarter than me????? nut

JudgeG ... just counting time 'til I am again finding balm in Gilead chilled out somewhere in the Selous.

I hear that they will be partnering with American. Using the AMerican Miami Gates and possibly Dallas as well. Hugh

The rumor I heard was that SAA would be joining the Sky Alliance with United and Air Canada. That would be nice.

Star Alliance (not Sky Alliance), they made that announcement months ago, but then it went quiet. I wonder what is really going on? I couldn't find anything new on the internet. However, on SAA's website, they say they are joining Star Alliance in 2006.

Terry

I discussed with Deltas platimum desk today that deals with SAA. They say there are no plans to separate relationship at this time. Truth or not, who knows.

And some would also say that due to Delta's financial situation that one should consider arranging for whatever mileage redemption you can get.I had to abort my free SAA ticket and go with BA at the last minute this year. Right now I am trying to burn all those miles on other travel. Does anyone out there know what the best credit card/miles situation might be for either BA or the Star Alliance? May have to cut up the AMEX/Delta card.
