Bwana1Just received this......
Thank you for contacting us about our recent implementation of a policy, effective for
tickets purchased on or after September 24, 2007, that would no longer allow the
transportation of civilian firearms in checked luggage to Europe and Asia, as a result
of onerous restrictions in the United Kingdom (UK).
After hearing from our customers and interested parties, including the National Rifle
Association (NRA), we've determined that we can modify our policy to allow legally
declared firearms to be transported on nonstop flights to other destinations in Europe
outside of the UK, and to our Asian destinations. We regret that, at this time, as a
result of UK policies we can not allow civilian transport of firearms into the UK.
We look forward to working with the NRA and other industry groups in an attempt to
resolve those issues in the hopes of allowing civilian firearms to be transported to
the UK on American Airlines in the near future. We appreciate that you took the time
to share your perspective about this important issue.
Sincerely,
Debi Little

new_guyExcellent work to everyone.
The UK has always been problematic with firearms, so that doesn't stand to change...
but the good news is that AA and other airlines know that we are collectively watching thier moves.

dbltapScrew em.
I put up with their surly service, old planes and generally piss poor frequent flyer program because they were a bit faster to some destinations we fly to. Never again. Their true colors have been displayed.
It's great that they backed off but the fact they did it in the first place shows just what they think of "us".

TJRObviously the pressure from NRA worked but we need to continue to monitor this because they are still not allowing firearms into the UK.
That means that if you fly to Africa with a change of planes or even a refuel in London you are STILL out of luck.
This is a step in the right direction but only a step.
I will keep working with NRA leadership to see if we can get the whole thing fixed.

Die Ou JagterWhy bother with AA (just because they use America in their name and are an America owned company) when BA can handle your travel to Africa if you are so minded as to travel thru London. SAA ain't the greatest but they get there faster at least for me here in Pa.
