CrazyhorseconsultingHelp! Can someone help age my lion?
Folks, I was born and raised in the 50's, early 60's, and I have watched America and American's especially over the last 10 years or so, lose sight of the fact that they are Americans.
If some one is offened by Mr. Fulson's post, that is their problem.
I am not trying to win any political contests/arguements/debates, I just stated my opinion on the subject.
What the hell has become so wrong with people stating an open and honest opinion on a subject, any subject?
Can someone answer that with out going into a bunch of useless hyperbole.
The anti-hunting/anti-gun/anti-anything movement can produce pictures that make what was posted look tame.
The biggest ammunition we give our opponents is the constant in-fighting among hunters, People That Supposedly Share A common Interest.
In the past few days, we have had a member, possibly former member post a story and a picture about a hunt he was proud of, get crucified in public on this site.
Now, we have a member post something in fun to try and get some things back to a semblance of reality about our sport, and he ends up pulling it because some folks have become ethics/ high road monitors.
Will Saeed and the folks that help him run this circus have to start previewing every stinking picture some one wants to post?
This is not about someone making a less than popular choice of what lion was shot, nor is it about another person posting something to try and lighten up a tense atmosphere.
It is about people that have problems with pictures that are posted that they feel are unsuitable, or people that have trouble with what someone else kills, if it does not fit inside their concept of what a trophy is.
We have enough problems in this world trying to keep hunting as a viable past time.
Fighting amongst ourselves, having individuals being hall monitors/ethics/morals police, and being overly worried about our "Public Image" is not helping anything.
We are not going to win friends and influence enemies among the groups that do not want us hunting for any reason.
Are we alienating people because of our self righteous attitudes that hunters should take the gentlemanly high road and ALL have the same feelings/thoughts/ideas of what hunting is and how it should be conducted, YES We Are.
A perfectly harmless joke was perpetrated by a well thought of member of this site.
Instead of being viewed that way, a few people found reasons as to why that one little bit of humor was WRONG.
That Is Wrong.
If anyone has reached the p[oint in their hunting career, where they do not get any enjoyment out of the entire process of the activity, maybe it is time they gave up the hobby.
I respect the animals I kill, but I enjoy making a kill, because that is what I am out there trying to do.
We are not royalty here, we are or should be normal human beings with normal human feelings.
Last time I checked respect and humor were both parts of the human condition.
I would apologise for the rant, but each of us have been given only so many days in which to live our lives.
I for one do not believe my God intended for me to set around worried about offending anyone whose knickers are screwed on so tight that they have lost the ability to have fun, even over serious subjects.

Michael RobinsonAs for aging that cat, he's too young to die!
(Unless killed by his father's successor as pride male.)

As for the rest, definitely - KEEP IT!

G L KrauseDave, I read somewhere that you got this cat on a canned lion hunt, but I didn't realize that you actually got him OUT of a can!

All the Lion 'scientists' proved to me was -- that probably the laws need to be changed, they can't accurately age a lion anyway until its dead and that people will always belittle someone else's animal if it does not meet what they think is a 'trophy'.
They have also inshured that I (anyway) will never support or donate to the organization they want to form. but hey I'm just an average joe, so I don't count anyway.
His lion was legal under current law so STFU.
Buckeye - You're right, we just wanted to bash the trophy, because it wasn't big enough, to meet our "trophy" standards! Glad you got the point.
Besides you're right, it was legal! Just as Lane pointed out, Human Trafficking is legal is some countries too. Guess you are in support of the rape of 13 yr old girls as well? Why would we ever question anything, just because its legal, got me??
Obviously you are a great diplomat. If you did not come across as such a jerk --- you could probably get some support for what you are trying to do.
I don't like judgemental eliests telling me what I can do -- in my or in this case, a species best interest. Especially in this case when the hunter was legal.
You have just affirmed why you are not fit to lead the discussion on how the changes need to be implemented.
