Wx = weather. It ain't flying the space ship people.

As for the Wx, I have no idea. Ask your PH?

It is if your over 50. LOL! Good thing I have the kids to translate for me. Now someone please answer his question. I have always hunted late in the fall in the Limpopo area and it can get quite hot. I imagine it is average for this time of year just like the southern part of the country. Probably 50 to 70 F.

Brian, expect cool evenings and mornings, low humidity and sunny days into the mid 70's to low 80's. Take a light jacket if you're planning to do much riding on the back of the truck.

Went in 2008, July 2, to July 16. A few mornings it was frosty, but heated up to the 70's. Never rains? 7th day into the hunt, we had a thunderstorm, and 1/2" of rain....everything was ok the next morning. Take a decent jacket and some leather gloves, and a hat. You'll be alright.

Frigid in the morning will need gloves if riding in back of truck. sun comes up and fleece and vest can come off.

You can expect the WX to be HC (helluva cold) in the AM followed by PDH (pretty damn hot) by midday followed by GC (gettn' chilly) in the EV. (evening).

As has been said, take a JK, H & G. (jacket hat and gloves).

Also be aware of GOSW (golden orb spider webs) in the road which are BU (bloody uncomfortable) when they hit you in the BR. (boat race which = face in CRS) (cockney rhyming slang)

The easy way to avoid GOSW is either to ride in the front of the truck for the first few hours or to sit with your rifle held upright in front of you as protection.

RWBUATTOY. (rain would be unusual at that time of year)

You can log onto weatherunderground.com and type in Ellisras and get daily temps from your hunting period last year for each 24 hour period that encompasses your hunt. It should be pretty much the same this year. Moon phases are also available, if you're interested.

I have hunted in Limpopo in late July and get can get pretty damn cold at night and pretty warm during the day. Dress in layers so you can stay warm in the mornings and evening but can take a layer off in the afternoon.

Good Hunting,

Brian T,

Another thing you might consider is asking if your sleeping quarters are heated (probably not).

If not, you could request additional blanket(s) or bring sleeping attire to suit your needs.

Brian: It's like hunting in autumn in Virginia. A coat in the morning, which you peel off around 11:00 a.m. Your PH and the outfitter's website will be your best reference for the specific weather to your exact location and GPS point. What outfitter did you finally decide on?

Brian,

Wx means weather in my little corner of the world as well.

I have hunted in the limpopo near Alldays, which is east of Ellisras, quite close to the Botswana border. The jacket and gloves are a great idea when riding in the toyota @ daybreak along with a muffler(scarf) around the neck. The last time we were there the frost damaged some of the crops, that is rare but it happens. If that happens ask for a blanket for your wife and childrens legs if they are up in the back with you.

That's a great time to go BTW.

Wow, you guys are being pretty hard on Brian T for saying "wx". "WX" is used by the aviation and airline industry among others, and I believe also by the military. I knew what he meant because in MY job that is the abbreviation for weather. It sure makes more sense to me than LOL, IMHO, JMO, BTW, and LMAO which a lot of you use here on this forum on a regular basis. In fact there are certain abbreviations used on this forum that I STILL haven't figured out!

Steve,

Don't worry, I do have a sense of humor, and nothing went over my head. My post was somewhat tongue-in-cheek (TIC) and yes, that is a text abbreviation that people use, along with more than 1,300 others. I guess that I was overly concerned that Brian T, who doesn't post here much (only 26 posts in 5 years), might feel his leg is being pulled a bit too hard by some of us Luddites who might not be current on all the lingo and abbreviations being used nowadays.

Anyway, I do appreciate your sense of humor, along with everyone else's on this forum. Believe me, I've watched my daughter texting her BFF and it all looks so foreign to me that I'm left thinking, WTF?

It's all good! Cheers!
