jdollarall lucky streaks eventually end. that said, it is ridiculous that these poor people are charged $2/day to fish from shore- that's a helluva lot of money in Zim.

Sorry I disagree. I have seen the same people walking home with Maize Bags full of fish. The average Joe will earn at least $20 from a days fishing. I know several Kariba residents whose workers disappear for days simply because they make more money from fishing than they do working. I dont think $2 is a bad fee at all.
Another thing that the report fails to highlite, is that the so called hero is actually a Fish poacher. He clearly mentions netting which is illegal unless a Commercial license is obtained. This is expensive and ensures that every tom dick and Tsvu doesnt legally net Kariba and its surrounding waters into oblivion.
Finally, as anyone who has visited Kariba recently will tell you, the shoreline is littered with illegal fisherman who run for the hills at the first sign of The Parks rangers and scouts. They will also tell you that Crocs take many of these people every year. I have no doubt Mr Tsvu will shortly be counted amongst them.
