Ray's 105th Birthday at Dallas
O.K., Folks:

Ray just e-mailed me with his final decision concerning the celebration of his birthday. It will be on January 7th, Friday evening. We'll meet for dvd's/chatter/libations in my mini-suite at the Marriott Market Center anytime after 5:00 p.m. and go to Papago's Cajun at an appropriate time.

Ray has firmly set this date, unless he forgets he did, or something. Pierr'e, I'm sure, will get him were he needs to be and push the chair, etc.

I'll be hosting the wake for Ray the next evening, so plan on being there also. We'll video the stroke, so if you can't be there on Friday, Saturday will be just fine.

Is that the actual day of Ray's birth?If so , then we share more than just a love of Africa.For it was on the 7th of January 1957 that my dear old mamma squatted and birthed me also.Don't know if someone caught me or I just went in face first like a wildebeast calf,but i loved her and was greatfull til the day she passed.

Congrats Ray.And by the way,whats it gonna be like for me when I get old like you?

Nope the actual day was Jan.10, 1935 under a chuckwagon with the sides closed in with canvas, in a West Texas Ice storm......I hit the ground running for a warm spot. Still hate cold weather.

You talking about the Dallas show? I'd like to be there. You know Ray, You're the same age as my Dad. He's got alot of good things to say,just like you. I would like to pick your brain about a few things relating to African rifles and cartridgeS. I'll see you there.

Oh, NO!!! My mother's troubles all started on Jan 10th 1958 in a mud-and-reed clinic in Ndola in the Zambian Copperbelt!

Well, Uncle Ray - I'll be sure to toast your health in (let's see)...... 18 days' time, if you'd do the same for my health (not to mention dear old mom's sanity).

What'll it be? Tusker? Bohlinger's? Zambezi? Windhoek? As long as you don't ask me to put that foul Castle stuff to my chapped lips....

Though I look like I'm only 40 yrs old, Ray has only 2 yrs, and two months on me! SOOOOOOOO I guess I'm second in command of the wheelchair brigade! I wonder if I can get one that is four wheel drive, with a rifle rack!

Tusker suits me fine, I at one time attempted to drain Africa of Tusker beer but failed in my endevor, they make a lot of that stuff!

I just happen to have a 6 pack in the fridge that I have had for some time and I will be glad to toast you mama and all your family on Jan. 5, the day I fly out of here or I can toast you with a cool Lone Star in the great state of Texas on Jan.10, your call.

Actually boys I am only 29 years old, but had some hard miles put on me and I been rode hard and put up wet on many an ocassion. I have also led a very scary life, just look at my friends, that in itself is statue to my state of survival...

If it wasn't for my horse and dog that love me, I would have passed on to the great hunting ground in the sky many moons past, and if it wasn't for my horse the damn dog could reach me and bite me and would...so that leaves my horse that loves me.
