Any one hunt with Paul?

I'm thinking of a 21 or 28 day hunt with him and would like to hear any first hand experence. I'm mostly after elephant Lion and Leopard.

Any help is appreciated.

I'm thinking of doing this either just before my 28 day hunt in TZ or right after.

2 months in Africa. I may never want to come home.

Never hunted with him, but shared a camp. Seems like the old-school, reliable PH type. Wouldn't have any reason not to hunt with him, but had to explain to him why his clients shouldn't be using solids on buff!

I was supposed to hunt with Paul a few years ago and he justifiably contracted out the hunt to a young Peter Barnard at the last minute. The trip was supposed to be a crop raiding elephant hunt but turned into a really great plains game trip when the eles didn't show. Anyway, the trip price was "all in" for the elephant but then at the end we had "shot so much game" that Paul charged us a few hundred US "dip and pack". No big deal but I have a tough time believing that we shot enough to overcome the dip and pack that was already paid on an elephant.

Even so, I'd probably hunt with him and UNDOUBTEDLY hunt with Peter again.

That is a wonderful safari you are planning, if you stay much longer we might make you an honoury ( African ) aficionado ... Wow you are a great advertisment for a determined hunter willing to go for the long haul

It wasn't. That's not to say I wouldn't hunt with him in the future. I think he's a good guy and all, I just found it odd then.

Thanks for the info guys. I'm not certain it will work out time wise but it sure would be fun to do two hunts in different countries back to back.

As some of you know this is a retirement gift to myself. It's bee over 30 years since I had more than a day or two off at a time so I'm going ot break that cycle.

Origionally I was thinking of RSA but in truth the antelope species just don't float my boat. I think some are quite beautiful but I would rather hunt the DG and do PG as neded for baits.

Since Ele is one of by priorities and the teeth on Tanz bulls are long and thin while those in Zim are short and thick it would make a nice contrast should I get lucky enough to take a bull in each country.

I also boked a hunt with Paul Zorn and actually hunted with Peter Barnard. After a couple good trips to South Africa, I wanted a wilderness hunt.

We hunted the Chewore North area. It was an incredible hunt with beuatiful scenery,a 42+" buffalo, good warthog and awesome tigerfish! We then traveled to an area near Harare for a nice Sable. A better 10 days could not be had.

The trophies remind me of both a great time in Africa and a good friendship with Peter.

I will book directly with Peter in the future. He is honest, hard working and a pleasure to share a hunting camp. http://www.africanhunting.biz/index.swf
