steve yCoffee-table engraving book
Is there a good book that showcases engraved firearms? Not a how-to or a single mfr but just some eye-candy?
(BTW, there is an engraving of a elephant bluff-charging on (presumably) a DGR in my faintest memory but I can't remember the engraver's name or where I saw it. Ring a bell to anyone?)
Sorry for posting this here but but thought more might see it than in BOOKS...
See your post in gunsmithing.

Bravo five oneSteve, look up a book called Steel Canvas. Cant think of the authors name, offhand, but he's the same guy who authored the recent book on Bill Ruger.Steel Canvas has it all.
Bravo
For a nice and changing look at good engraving, try a subscription to the Double Gun Journal. It's a handsom periodical that showcases some finely engraved firearms and you get to see new ones every couple of months. Not some flimsy magazine, but a well bound "book" with some work that will make a grown man drool.
Today I received my Safari Press Fathers Day 2004 catalog in the mail. On page 16 there are several books that might fill your bill. They have a website at
www.safaripress.com.Among the books on that page:
British Gun Engraving by Douglas Tate
Fine European Gunmakers by Marco Nobili
Gun Engraving by Christopher Austyn
